Labyrinth

Welcome to the crazy world of Labyrinth.

The film pretty much does what it says on the tin! Sarah (jennifer Connelly) wishes her brother be taken away by goblins, cue Bowie, the goblin king Jareth played by David Bowie whisks him away and Sarah only has a small amount of time to solve the labyrinth and get the brother back.

Not one of my "faves", THE COSTUMES however... WOW!! Highlights for me include a stand up collar Dracula would run and hide from, puff sleeves, sparkly headwear, leather, lace and feathers.

The mix of textures and contrast of silhouettes makes the whole thing worth while and visually exciting. The puppetry shouldn't go unmentioned as Jim Henson has done cracking job as always in bringing such fantastical creatures to life.

Lambada

Another cracking 90s no-expense-spared kinda movie. The girl, Sandy, although extremely annoying, does own some cute shirts with flamboyant collar detailing. Other golden nuggets of 90s fashion that crop up along the way include a tapestry waistcoat, floral dungarees and sideways baseball caps! Those kids were so hip with the hop! The leather clad HUNK of a teacher who happens to be amaze-balls at dancing and riding around on a motor bike and designing graffiti style t-shirts, spends most of the time trying to get rid of Sandy and it goes on for a while and is generally stupid. Interestingly he has a silver cross earring, personally, I think this is where Chelseas Proudlock got the idea!

The film isn't exactly 'high-brow' but its worth watching just for the costumes, they have everything from bikers to hammer pants and the glasses are as insane as the haircuts!
